Double celebration for Manchester City: Foden was named the best footballer, while Shaw won the women’s award.
Foden (23) won the Football Press Association of England award thanks to an impressive season with the Citizens. With 24 goals in all competitions, including a key goal in the Club World Cup final, Foden received 42% of the vote. The young international expressed his gratitude by saying: “I am extremely proud to have won this award. My focus now is to finish the season as strongly as possible and help City win more trophies.”
Manchester City, who had already won the Premier League, also hoped for the Champions League trophy, but they were knocked out by Real Madrid, so their fight for European prestige ended. However, they still have the FA Cup, where they will face Manchester United in the final on May 25.
As for the women’s award, Hadiya ‘Bani’ Shaw showed her talent by winning the award for the best female footballer. The Jamaica international became the club’s all-time top scorer, even though the season ended early due to a foot injury. With 21 goals in the Women’s Super League, Shaw impressed and won the vote ahead of competition from Chelsea and City.
Manchester City proudly lifted these awards for the second time in five years, demonstrating the wealth of talent the club possesses.
