Team analysis: Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham go into this match with a lot of confidence after overcoming serious obstacles in the EFL Cup semi-final against Manchester United. Although they showed offensive dominance in that match and took a 3:0 lead, a series of mistakes by goalkeeper Fraser Forster almost cost them a pass. In the end, Son Heung-min scored the crucial goal directly from a corner, securing a place in the final.
However, there are still serious concerns on defense. Injuries to key players such as Ben Davies, Christian Romero and Mickey van de Ven, as well as goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicari, have left Postechoglu without options in the back line. Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert are also out, while Rodrigo Bentancourt is suspended.
On the other hand, the offensive seems coordinated. Son, Kulusevski and Madison are in good shape, while Tim Werner is expected to return, which could further strengthen the attack. Destini Udoji, who missed the last match due to a minor injury, will probably be ready to take the place at left back. Spurs will try to use home ground and high pressing to slow down Liverpool’s transition.
Team analysis: Liverpool
Liverpool are in great form, with as many as 20 matches without defeat in all competitions. Although they have drawn against Newcastle and Fulham in their last two Premier League games, their dominant run still keeps them at the top of the table. In the middle of the week, they defeated last-placed Sheffield United in the EFL Cup with 2:1, which shows that they have the ability to “survive” even less inspiring performances.
Offensively, Arne Slott’s side are extremely lethal. Mohamed Salah, with 13 goals and 9 assists in the season, leads the team, while Dominic Soboslay and Luis Diaz are a constant threat on the wings. Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota add depth to the attack, which allows them flexibility in the finish line.
Defensively, Liverpool have fewer problems than the hosts. Ibrahima Konata and Conor Bradley are out, but the return of Andy Robertson from suspension and the recovery of Kostas Tsimikas provide options at left-back. Trent Alexander-Arnold continues to play a key role in creating the attack on the right, while Joe Gomez provides stability alongside Van Dijk.
Betting Tip: Both Teams to Score (GG)
With both teams’ attacking styles of play and injuries in Tottenham’s defence, it is very likely that we will see goals from both sides. Tottenham have the quality to threaten Liverpool, while the away side are known for their efficiency.
