Arsenal is very close to finalizing a deal for Spanish international Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad for £51 million. According to reports from the English “Daily Mail,” all contract details have been practically agreed upon, and the transfer will be completed during the summer transfer window.
Mikel Arteta, the Gunners’ manager, has long been interested in Zubimendi, who is seen as an ideal replacement for Thomas Partey and Jorginho, whose contracts expire at the end of the season. Although Arsenal attempted to secure the transfer in the January window, Real Sociedad insisted on postponing it until summer, which the player accepted.
Zubimendi, who rejected offers from Liverpool and Manchester City over the summer, is set to become a key player in Arsenal’s midfield. Arteta plans to significantly strengthen Arsenal’s midfield for the upcoming season with Zubimendi and the previously acquired Mikel Merino.
In addition to finalizing the Zubimendi deal, Arsenal is also exploring options to bolster their attacking lineup. Injuries to key players such as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have significantly weakened the team, forcing Arteta to seek new solutions in January.
The Zubimendi transfer is expected to be officially confirmed immediately after the current season ends, as Arsenal continues to build a squad capable of achieving major success.
