Arsenal plans major summer transfer spree, with four key signings targeted

After the disappointment of failing to sign a striker in January, Arsenal is reportedly preparing to make four major signings in the summer.

Arsenal is gearing up for a significant squad overhaul in the summer transfer window, aiming to strengthen the team for both domestic and European dominance. Although they explored several transfer opportunities in January, the Gunners made no additions to their squad, but with substantial funds available at the end of the season, manager Mikel Arteta is set to bolster his team with high-profile reinforcements.

A marquee striker remains Arsenal’s top priority, with Alexander Isak from Newcastle and Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig leading their shortlist. While signing Isak could potentially involve a British-record transfer fee, Sesko is viewed as a more realistic option. Arsenal attempted to sign the Slovenian international last summer, but he chose to stay at Leipzig. The Bundesliga club turned down offers in January, but Arsenal may rekindle their pursuit in the upcoming window.

In addition to a striker, Arsenal is considering the addition of a new wide forward, especially with Raheem Sterling set to return to Chelsea after his loan spell. The Gunners are still keen on Nico Williams from Athletic Club, although their primary focus remains securing a top-tier striker.

Midfield reinforcements are also expected, as Jorginho and Thomas Partey are both likely to depart as free agents. Arsenal has made significant progress in securing Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi in a £51 million deal, though Real Madrid could yet enter the race for the Spanish international. The Gunners are prepared to trigger Zubimendi’s release clause but still need to negotiate personal terms.

Arsenal is also expected to revisit their interest in 18-year-old Norwegian midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg. Nypan previously chose to remain in Norway for another six months, but Arsenal is prepared to offer him a clear pathway to first-team football.

Another area of concern is the backup goalkeeper position, with loanee Neto set to return to Bournemouth. Arsenal remains interested in Espanyol’s No.1, Joan Garcia, having maintained contact with his representatives since failing to agree on a deal last summer. Espanyol previously insisted on his full release clause being met, leading Arsenal to sign Neto as a temporary solution.

With several high-profile departures expected, Arsenal’s summer business is set to be one of their most ambitious in recent years, as Arteta looks to build a squad capable of sustained success at the highest level.
