Borussia Dortmund are in talks with Arsenal over the transfer of Alexander Zinchenko, reports Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany.

In the previous days, talks were held between the representatives of the players and the German club, and negotiations are expected to continue. Zinchenko, a 28-year-old left-back, is open to a transfer as he is looking for more playing time, having been sidelined by Mikel Arteta this season.

Dortmund are considering a loan move worth around €20m (£17m). The interest in Zinchenko is not new, as Dortmund tried to bring him last summer, but no agreement was reached then. In addition to the German club, Inter from Milan and Fenerbahce also showed interest.

For Arsenal, this transfer could mean financial flexibility as Zinchenko is among the highest paid players on £150,000 a week. His departure would relieve the budget and allow the club to focus on bringing in attacking reinforcements, which is a priority this transfer window.

Arteta’s team currently has problems with injuries and form in attack, so it is clear that Arsenal is looking for solutions in that segment. Zinchenko’s transfer would allow the club to focus resources on key positions.

For all parties, this move seems like an ideal solution. Dortmund would get an experienced and versatile player, Zinchenko an opportunity for continuity in the game, while Arsenal would free up space for strategic reinforcements.

Whether this transfer will be realized remains to be seen in the coming days.
