Team analysis: Napoli
Napoli are challenging for the top of the Serie A table this season, and the team’s current form under Antonio Conte shows solid progress, although they have had a few problems at home. Napoli are in good form at the moment, with eight consecutive matches without defeat away from home, all thanks to a solid defense and an efficient attack. In the last match against Genoa, Napoli celebrated thanks to headers from Amir Rrahmani and Franco Anguissa, and although the hosts tried to get back into the match, Napoli kept the lead.
However, Napoli have struggled at home of late. Although they had an excellent start at the Stadio Maradona with five consecutive victories, they have suffered two defeats in their last three matches at home – against Atalanta and Lazio. In order to continue the fight for the title, Napoli must improve their game at home. However, history is against Venice, as Napoli have not lost in the last eight matches against them at home and have not conceded a goal in the last five matches.
In attack, Napoli can count on Romelu Lukaku, who has been in great form against promoted teams, as well as the return of Khviche Kvaratskhelia, which could give them an added boost in attack. In midfield, the trio of Anguissa, Lobotka and McTominay will be key in controlling the game and linking the attack with the defence.
Team analysis: Venezia
Venezia comes to this visit with a lot of problems, and not only in the last games, but also in the history of their away games in Serie A. Eusebio Di Francesca’s team, although they have recovered in the last games, are on very low branches, especially when they play on the side. After losing four in a row, Venezia are now unbeaten in their last three games, including an all-important win against survival rivals Cagliari.
However, Venezia has many injury problems and a weakened team is struggling to produce solid results. Michael Svoboda, Alfred Duncan, Richie Sagrado and Antonio Raimondo are all injured, further weakening their play. In attack, Joel Pohjanpalo is expected to be the lone striker, while Gaetano Oristanio and Gianluca Busio will be key in supporting and linking the midfield attack.
Venezia, despite their recent good results, cannot boast of good away results, as they have remained winless in their last 16 matches in Serie A. This statistic certainly does not favor their chances in this visit.
Betting Suggestion: 1&3+
Napoli is the favorite in this match for several reasons. First, Napoli are a much stronger team in all aspects of the game, with great individual qualities such as Lukaku and Kvaratskhelia. Also, the history of home matches against Venice is overwhelmingly on the side of Napoli, who are unbeaten at home against this team.
In addition, Napoli are known for scoring a lot of goals, and given Venice’s defensive weakness, as well as the fact that Napoli need to improve their form at home, they are likely to score three or more goals in this match. In the last few matches, Napoli have shown that they are capable of that kind of offensive approach, while Venezia are known for conceding a lot of away goals.
